Very good food! Started out bad. Sat at the table for 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The waitress that came was great! She never let our drinks run out. There is a constant banging sound that came from the kitchen that was super annoying, other than that the restaurant is very nice. We ordered the dinner for two that had four meats...this meal is big enough for three. We took and entire to-go box home with us and we were both super full. The Ribs were the best by far and the brisket was a close second for me. The macaroni and cheese was by far my favorite thing ...I think... I loved the corn bread too. The ranch beans are different ..not bad...just different. Parking was tricky to find near the restaurant. We had to walk a ways to get there.read more

To be honest the first everett I went to was not really that great. This time I went to the location out at Jack London square. Did not wait long and got seated. We ordered a ribs and brisket (which was cooked to perfection and I rarely touch beef) with an excellent macaroni and cheese and greens with cornbread for sides. The portions were good size enough for us to share. We got a sock it to me cake and a sweet potato pie to go. Tiffany (yes Tiffany I see you) was very nice and really gave great customer appreciation. I was thoroughly impressed by the food. I got appetizers and drinks at Yoshis and it was 90 compared to real food drinks and dessert here for 40. Good stuff.read more

I would go to Southern Cafe if the location n sauce werent so greatBomb brisket and portions✔️Good prices ✔️Live music ✔️Bland sides ❎Their dry, butter wanting, candied yams and Bland collard greens make them a pass if you are from the South. But for Oakland the joint is great and the location is perfect. I've been 3 times now and each time have been disappointed every side I have tried. Great place. Oakland paraphernalia in southern food gives an old Oakland ungentrified feel.. barbecue is bomb. However their sides Lack the love and foot your grandmother put into her cooking. The yams are particularly disappointing. Void of butter tasting like a vegan recipe. LOL but the greens and mac are pretty good. the brisket and ribs were really good. Everett and Jones got four stars because the food is very good. They would have gotten a five if they weren't so slow. Party of 20 waited over a hour once we put in our order. No matter what day or time you go you always have to wait to long for your food . Unfortunately we don't go as often as we like to because of that reason.read more

I'm no expert but this is what I guess soul food is supposed to be! Everything was just how we wanted it with our ribs smokey and slathered in vinegary BBQ sauce. They brew their own beer, show the sports and the clientele seems to be a nice mix of locals and the new tech bubble crowd. Our watiress was super sweet and took great care of us - Oakland homeliness in spades. Good music too.read more

Everett & Jones Barbeque in located in the Jack London neighborhood of Oakland, California. It's been in business since the earlier 1970's. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Clean facilities with a wheelchair accessible entrance. Public Restrooms. Reasonably priced. We have been coming here for years. Great food, nice atmosphere, freindly but, extra slow service. Live music at times. Private space for parties. Located in Jack London Square. There are plenty of things to do in the area. There is a Starbucks across the street , hotels to stay at, Yoshi's , and other fun activities. I would recommend going here for some excellent barbecue. Absolute best! Good prices. This place has been there long time for a reason. Family owned and operated. Brisket always spot on. Chicken is the bomb. Killer links and that sauce. Oh my, that sauce. The ribs are impeccable and the brisket just melts in your mouth but make sure you have about an hour to wait between the time of ordering and the time you pick up your food if you get it to go. Tables seemed to clear out faster than to go orders. Great service but takes forever. Worth every penny spent on the #3 dinner meal. I highly recommend it!read more

Beef links how can u go wrong. Working in the area and we go once a week. Their house beer is pretty bad though. The brisket is good. They do tend to out lots of sauce on the meet. So I ask for it on the side. The Mac and cheese is good. The sweet 🥔 mash is definitely sweet. Coorn bread above average. Chicken a little dry but goes really well with their sauceread more

Good, tender pulled pork sandwiches. Some of the best potato salad I think I've had. Another customer recommended the ribs (just a bit too messy with kids). The hot links were good, kids thought they were too spicy, but we thought it had just the right amount of "burn".No frills, but nice, fast service and easy atmosphere.read more

Really good BBQ. Service, well let's just say we almost got up and walked out, like the two tables near us. Food is 5 star, but service is 2 star. Owner was present, but she really should have helped out. There was no bartender so it took a while for us to get our drinks. Service issues aside, the food is really good and so are the drinks. I had the ribs and the sauce is on point! Wife had the brisket. Our sides included cole slaw, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. All very well made.This is a must stop for anyone visiting Jack London Square area. Popular, so be prepared to wait on weekends.read more

In an effort to support a blackowned business I made my way to Everett & Jones BBQ. When I entered the restaurant, it was crowded but the staff was attentive, which was a good sign to me. It had an old fashioned/country flare to me that made it inviting. I patiently asked the hostess if I could dine outside because it was very hot indoors and I saw that she was overheated as well. She quickly cleaned the table outside for me instead of waiting for a bus person which was nice and I was able to eat my food outside and enjoy the playlist of black artists singing. I ordered the Chicken & Brisket combo with medium sauce, Yams & Macaroni & Cheese. A cornbread muffin was included and my choice of beverage was the lemonade. Pros: The Yams were beyond good, the sauce wasn't too spicy, lemonade and the meat was good but I would've like it to be more tender. Con: I ordered a slice of Sock it to Me cake and I did not like it all all. I honestly was expecting something way better than what I received. Although the cake was moist, that's honestly the only good thing I can say about it. It had no taste to it and for $7, I feel it was a waste of my money. Overall, I'm glad I made a visit to Everett & Jones, I'll be back again and I'm already recommending it to friends and family.read more

A sports Game was on and people just would NOT leave. There was even a 45 mins wait on To Go food. We couldn't wait because I had to catch a plane home. Otherwise, I would have chowed down. I have to give, E & J credit for consistency and flavor. Always a good value, and the sides are awesome. Reminds me of holiday BBQs at my god fathers place in east oakland. There have only been three places throughout my life time that I would consider to be the best BBQ ever. First and foremost uncle Jesse, knowing him he's showing ST. Peter how it's done in the east. Then the ever popular Flints (a through back for those in the know). And then there is E&J, truly an Oakland instition and Legend in Oak-Town.read more
